Independent Residency for Public Art
Disciplines: Curating/Research, Multi Media, Performing Arts, Visual Arts
Located in the heart of the historic centre of Bologna, near the main point of cultural and social attraction and close to the Bologna train station. Milan, Florence, Turin and Rome are reachable by train or car in 3 hours maximum.
Residency for Artists: artists are asked to develop a research in collaboration with Nosadella.due curatorial and technical staff, aiming at the realization of a site specific project connected to the territory, local and national. Nosadella.due promotes art in public spaces, community based or relational/participatorial art projects. They could also be connected with the patrimony of the city. Works produced by artists during their residency – or at least some of them – get to be part of Nosadella.due collection.
Residency program for Curators: The stay of foreign curators is intended as a period of research of the Italian art scene, as private research period for the curators and as opportunity for confrontation and exchange of working methodologies between the guests and the staff of Nosadella.due. With the guests Nosadella.due, in fact, discuss proposals for future collaborative projects, artist’s portfolio of future artistic residents, and innovative theorical research on public art…
The curators and the artists are also asked to introduce their work at meetings with the public or, if they are in charge of a public/private institution in their country, to present its activities during informal or official events.
Duration: 1-3 months for artists (up to 3 artists at a time). 2-4 weeks for curators (up to 2 curators at a time)
Paid by artist:
Personal expenses. The resident is expected to collaborate with the fundraising strategy and apply to specific funding possibilities in his/her country.
Paid by host:
Accommodation, board, travel. For each project, Nosadella.due develops a fundraising strategy to produce a final work.
Application Guidelines and Criteria:
Artists and curators are selected by invitation.
Nosadella.due’s primary aim is to aid the international mobility of contemporary art responding to the need to stimulate interaction between different cultures and expressions that is indispensable at this present time. A further aim is create an experimental artists workshop opened to the public, which transforms art into a moment of collective identity for people of different ages, backgrounds and professions. The project also aims to actively involve public bodies and private organisations in creating a co-operative network in which ways of thinking and methodologies can be shared by participating in new models of development.
One common studio, technical instruments (pc, video camera, slide projector) and internet connection can be used by the artists.
