The artists’ residence Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral in Bad Ems is an institution incorporated in the Stiftung Rheinland-Pfalz für Kultur (Foundation for Culture, Rhineland-Palatinate), from where it receives its funding. It is a place for artistic production, meeting and discussion. Since its foundation in 1995, Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral has seen various work projects including Schloss Balmoral has attended various work projects including all disciplines of visual arts. Visual artists from Rhineland-Palatinate as well as national and international artists are sponsored through the award of artist-in-residence scholarships and project, foreign and exchange scholarships.
The house also opens its doors to the public and features a wide-ranging program with events such as lectures, seminars, conferences, exhibitions and concerts.
The Förderkreis Balmoral 03 e.V. (registered fundraising group, Balmoral 03) was formed in 2003 to support the activities of the artists’ house.
The artists’ house is located in Bad Ems, a historical spa town with a population of 10,000. It lies close to the river Lahn and is about 18 km from Koblenz. The A3 motorway can be used to reach Cologne and Frankfurt quickly.
Residential scholarships at Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral in Bad Ems are awarded to international visual artists. Furthermore a curator scholarship is awarded to a junior academic graduate.
The updated information as to eligibility, benefits and requirements for the scholarships 2014 will be published in the beginning of the application period presumably end of April/beginning of May.

International scholarships and one project grant for an artist living in Germany for six months, starting in April each year. All scholarships are endowed with 1.200 Euro per month and include free accommodation (except project grant) at the Künstlerhaus Schloß Balmoral.
