OCAT International Art Residency – CHINA

OCAT International Art Residency
Drawing & Painting, Film, Curating/Research, Media Art, Multi Media, Photography, Performing Arts, Sculpture

Shenzhen is a city of immigrants. The total population is just over seven million-with about half of that registered residents and the other half a floating population. It is a coastal city that has a subtropical, oceanic climate, with an annual temperature average of 22.4 C°, and an average annual rainfall of just under two metres, which is why there are flowers and green lawns all the year round.

Following the conclusion of each residency, OCAT produces a documentary publication, and circumstances permitting, the residency culminates in a review of the work produced, and a gathering of all participants before an invited local audience. Written reports and images are also posted on the OCAT website.

The resident commits to:

conduct the project submitted at application stage
open his/her studio from time to time, make lecture and communicate with local public, artists and art organisations
show his/her art work or research at the end of the residency (exhibition, academic lecture, research paper…) – optional
